When I’m working on designing pages that are on a strict grid or designs that require a lot of meticulous tinkering like pixel graphics, I find it easier to concentrate if I’m listening to electronic music. I think it has something to do with the machine-perfect quantization of the beats that gets me in the zone to stay perfectly on pixel. I wonder if anyone has ever studied this…

True! For me it’s all about concentration. The electronic music keeps you moving beat by beat instead of getting stuck on a pixel. Rock or pop music is just too attention-demanding, subtile electronics with beats provide me with a muzak-ish background vibe that keeps me moving, working and flowing, stimulating me to make decicions ‘on the rhythm’ instead of getting stuck on ‘em.. somewhere i read the ticking of a clock or metronome on 120bpm (=seconds..) could have the same effect.. i like the vibe and atmosphere of music more.. and it probably could provide a steady adrenalin level as well.. against dreaming away or falling asleep..
